Boulter will be responsible for member and government relations, and will oversee all of IATA’s initiatives in Asia-Pacific. Boulter brings to IATA over 30 years of industry experience, including 20 years with Cathay Pacific in various positions in Hong Kong, Canada, India, Japan, the Philippines, and the U.S. Boulter joins IATA from Gulf Air where he was the chief commercial officer.

Ford brings more than 10 years of experience in the travel industry to his new position, with demonstrated success in targeting the youth market. Ford spent the past four years as director of business development and director of sales, Americas, for Gap Adventures. Prior to joining Gap Adventures, he spent five years with Global Matrix, a software solution provider to the travel industry.

WestJet announces new non-stop flight from Calgary to Maui and Honolulu
WestJet announced the launch of new, non-stop service between Calgary and Kahului, Maui. The inaugural flight to Maui departed Calgary's International Airport at 7:30 a.m. MT on March 6, 2010. The launch of new, non-stop service between Calgary and Honolulu, Oahu began on March 7, 2010. WestJet will fly on a one day per week basis between Calgary and Honolulu until April 25, 2010 and between Calgary and Maui until May 1, 2010.

Goway launches new Topdeck brochure for young travellers Goway has returned to its roots to launch another product for your 18- to 30-year-old clients. In a marketing arrangement with UK-based Topdeck, they are again promoting exclusive holidays for young people. Called “Global Hot Picks”, the brochure is currently being distributed to select Goway agencies. Agents interested in selling to this market may request supplies from the tour operator. “Selling these kinds of trips is how Goway got started” says Bruce Hodge, the founder and president of Goway.“In 1970 we represented the leading camping/budget-hotel tours for under-30s and evolved from there.”

Anderson Vacations on cross-Canada tour to showcase product lines; Alberta agents win rail trip
Anderson Vacations kicked off their Cross Canada Agent Appreciation nights with a couple of hometown shows in Calgary and Edmonton this past week. Jon Schmiemann, head of Western Canada Sales, presented Anderson Vacations’ various product lines including FIT Canada, Downunder, and escorted touring. Anderson Vacations gave away door prizes in addition to seats on their Mountain Madness and Eastern Canada FAM tours running in April. The grand prize of the evening was a return VIA Rail journey from Edmonton to Jasper onboard VIA Rail’s Canadian train.
