BRAZIL TAKES AGENTS "BEYOND THE BEATEN PATH"
The Brazilian Tourist Office hosts presentation and agent workshop last night; travel partners show off Brazil product

Travel agents from the Vancouver area gathered last night to attend “Beyond the Beaten Path,” a workshop and presentation designed to help agents sell Brazil. The workshop, which made its first stop in Montreal last Wednesday and visited Toronto on Thursday, offered a quick glimpse into all the possibilities that can be found within the destination. Approximately 85 agents came to the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel to meet with over 15 travel partners including airlines, tour operators and Brazilian destination representatives. Being the fifth largest country in the world, Brazil offers a variety of options for clients looking for a little variety, according to Vilma Varga, director for the West Coast, Brazilian Tourism Office. KUMUKA: THE ADVENTURE IS ON

Last week, HelloWestTravel.com got the chance to speak with Lee Nicholson, director of operations in North America for Kumuka Worldwide. According to Nicholson, although Kumuka is a relatively young company in Western Canada, “westerners tend to be slightly more adventurous” than the rest of North America, and he is positive that the western market is one that will continue to grow. Nicholson noted that much of Kumuka’s business from the west comes from Vancouver, Abbotsford, Mission and North and West Vancouver in B.C. and Calgary, Alberta. He went on to say that Kumuka is the type of company that is well suited for westerners as their tours incorporate several outdoorsy and adventurous activities such as trekking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, something widely popular amongst people from the west coast.Keep reading for the full story. EXOTIK TAKES AGENTS TO RUSSIA
Exotik Tours hosts nine agents from across Canada on a 10-day Russia FAM
Exotik Tours recently hosted nine travel agents from across the country on a 10-day familiarization trip to Russia. The trip featured Moscow and St. Petersburg, travelling between the two cities aboard the Sapsan train. Agents got to visit: Moscow’s St. Basil’s Cathedral and Red Square, the Kremlin and the city’s many cathedrals. In St. Petersburg, highlights included Hermitage Museum, Pushkin Palace and cruising on the Neva River. The visit also coincided with St. Petersburg’s May Day celebrations and the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II, allowing agents to also take in the parade on May 9.
