Compañía Mexicana de Aviación (CMA) announced that as of 6 p.m. central yesterday all ticket sales will be suspended and that no tickets will be issued until further notice. However, the airline stated via Twitter that they will continue operations as scheduled "in the interest of protecting passengers whom already have tickets & flight itineraries." WestJet reports profit increase by 15%; Air Canada suffers $203 million net loss; both numbers show positive growth post 2009 economic difficulties

WestJet Airlines Ltd. says its second-quarter profit more than doubled as revenue increased 15 per cent over the comparable period last year. The Calgary-based company's net income was $21 million or 14 cents per share with $612.1 million of revenue for the three-month period. Despite reporting losses, Air Canada's second quarter results are offering reassurance that the travel industry is starting to pick up post-2009 economic difficulties. Cathay Pacific announces intention to buy 36 new aircrafts; to serve North America & Europe market
Cathay Pacific Airways announced yesterday that it has entered into a letter of intent with the Airbus Company to buy 30 Airbus A350-900 aircrafts. The airline has also expressed its intention to exercise existing purchase rights in respect of six Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts.
