Stops included Red Deer, Edmonton, Abbotsford, North Vancouver and Parksville and featured Balinese dancing, and colourful presentations by officials from Indonesia, Silk Holidays and EVA Air. Indonesia offers the Ultimate in Diversity and Indonesian Consul Wibanarto backed that claim up in his presentation citing the country’s 17,000 islands, 230 million people and 300 ethnic groups as a base for an amazing array of vacation experiences. The island of Java is the country’s economic and political base with almost a third of the population and the capital city, Jakarta, whose attractions include museums, art and antique markets, shopping and plenty of cultural experiences.

The airline will redeploy capacity to meet increased demand, with up to 28,700 seats per week offered from gateways across Canada. Twenty-nine destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico are offered, an increase of 10 per cent compared to last year. “We continue to offer our customers the widest variety of travel package options. Air Transat offers new flights to Barcelona, Madrid and Paris, from Vancouver this 2009 season

| Barcelona | | Starting August 19, Air Transat’s 2009 Season flights will be available in all reservation systems. Next year, the airline will be offering scheduled flights to Spain departing from Vancouver, as well as additional flights on existing routes. With the addition of these new flights to the ones on its current 2008 flight schedule, Air Transat will offer more than 130 flights every week between Canada and Europe. New flights in 2009, departing from Vancouver include: Vancouver to Barcelona: new direct flight starting June 4, 2009, every Thursday; Vancouver to Madrid: new flight starting June 4, 2009, every Thursday; Vancouver to Paris: new flight the schedule will start earlier in 2009, as of May 7, 2009.

The Jamaica Tourist Board celebrates at the Crankworx Festival The Jamaica Tourist Board promoted the destination and its mountain biking tourism possibilities at this year’s Kokanee Crankworx Festival which finished this past weekend in Whistler, BC, August 9 to 17. The Tourist Board was on-site at the Longhorn Saloon & Grill for the duration of festival. The JTB worked with Air Canada Vacations, Sandals, and Appleton to promote the destination at the festival.
