ADDISON SHOWS ARE BIGGER THIS YEAR
Addison’s Western Series boasts new product, new venues
The Western Canada series of Addison Travel Trade Shows kicks off in Vancouver next Wednesday and is shaping up to be the biggest in several years, boasting new exhibitors, new product and new venues. “We’re really excited about the Fall Series of shows,” says Rex Armstead, president Addison Travel Marketing. “We’ve got more booths than ever, bigger venues and new exhibitors.” The series continues in Abbotsford September 4, Victoria September 5, Calgary September 8 and Edmonton September 9 before heading off on to Eastern Canada at the end of September. With a move into the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Vancouver show is projected to be the biggest show in years with a near-capacity number of exhibitors expected, including a large Mazatlan pavilion that will be featured in both the Vancouver and Calgary shows. Based in Vancouver, Hindley will be responsible for the growth of small to medium business development across British Columbia. Hindley brings more than nine years of corporate sales and management experience to FCm’s Vancouver operations having most recently held the position of business manager for three years at the global headquarters of FCm in Sydney Australia. NEW TRANSAT FLIGHTS TO MAUI
Transat Adds Maui to Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton

Transat Holidays announced the addition of Maui, Hawaii to its product line-up, beginning with Vancouver-Maui service December 20. Calgary-Maui and Edmonton-Maui service takes off December 23. Direct Air Transat service from Vancouver is aboard an Airbus 310 and departs Saturdays, while service from Calgary and Edmonton is aboard an Airbus 330 and departs Tuesdays. Airfares start at $898, round-trip from Vancouver, and one-week packages, include a Hertz car rental begin at $1,698 for a wide range of resorts, hotels and condos.  [Full text and pictures]

DOWNGRADED QUAKE SHAKES BC
Yesterday, 300 kilometres west of Campbell River, an earthquake was reported off Vancouver Island estimated to be 6.1 in magnitude. Since then it has been downgraded to 5.8, according to the National Earthquake Information Center of the U.S. Geological Survey. Between Monday and Wednesday, Vancouver Island was rattled by at least 15 earthquakes and aftershocks.
