CRUISE WEST SAILS SOUTH
Cruise West refurbishes Pacific Explorer, offers new itinerary to Panama and Costa Rica for 2009
Small ship cruise line, Cruise West, has announced its latest itinerary to Panama and Costa Rica for 2009. The ‘Between Two Seas’ itinerary features a voyage aboard the refurbished Pacific Explorer, a 100-passenger vessel. The Pacific Explorer underwent a $600,000 refurbishment that includes exterior painting, new carpeting throughout, amenity updates to the bathrooms and dining room, along with brand new menus. Additional upgrades include silverware in the dining room, general improvements to the vessel’s air conditioning system and new staff cabins. [Full text and pictures]

AIRASIA OFFERS FREE TIX TO THAILAND

Southeast Asia's leading budget airline said Tuesday it will give away 100,000 airplane tickets as part of a regional marketing campaign to woo tourists back to Thailand after that country's political turmoil. AirAsia, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, said it was working with Thailand's Tourism Authority. The airline said the free tickets would be good for travel to the Thai capital of Bangkok from Vietnam, Cambodia, Myammar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and China as well as for flights within Thailand. Tickets can be obtained only through AirAsia's website from Wednesday through Friday and will be good for travel between Jan. 6 and March 31. Passengers will have to pay airport taxes and an administration fee.
