TRANSAT ADDS ROUTES IN WESTERN EUROPE
Transat announces non-stops to Spain and Italy from Vancouver

Spanish wines and tapas, Italian pizzas and the Canadian Tenors were all employed this week to help Transat Holidays announce non-stop flights from Vancouver to Spain and Italy. Transat will offer Vancouver-Barcelona-Madrid service weekly June 4 to October 8, 2009 and weekly Vancouver-Rome flights go May 29 to October 9, 2009. Please note that Air Transat’s newly-reconfigured Airbus A330 will be used. “People have asked me in tough times why are we going ahead with new routes,” said Transat's vice-president Vic Nakhleh, at the announcement for travel agents and media on the rooftop lounge of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Occidental Hotels meets the trade in Vancouver; announces Book Now, Drive Free promotion

Occidental Hotels hosted travel agents and local media at the Terminal City Club in downtown Vancouver on November 19, 2008 at a mini trade show, followed by dinner, presentations and entertainment. Susan Webb, president of VoX International, the Canadian marketing office of Occidental Hotels presided over the evening, introducing representatives of two Occidental properties, the Royal Hideaway Playacar in Mexico and the Royal Hideaway Ensenachos in Cuba. Webb also announced the Book Now, Drive Free with Occidental promotion. Every new booking confirmed with any tour operator or wholesaler at a participating Occidental resort wins a $25 gift certificate from Petro Canada. SHERATON TO DEBUT BEFORE 2010 GAMES
Sheraton Vancouver Airport announces plans to open in Richmond, BC prior to 2010 winter games
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced plans to open Sheraton Vancouver Airport in Richmond, British Columbia prior to the start of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Owned by Richmond Inn Investments, Ltd. and managed by Larco Hospitality Management Inc., the 389-room hotel is set to debut as a Sheraton on or before January 1, 2010, following an extensive upgrade and refurbishment project. The addition of Sheraton Vancouver Airport is part of the most aggressive growth plan in the Sheraton brand’s history, with plans to open one hotel every three weeks. Just minutes from the Vancouver International Airport, Sheraton Vancouver Airport will be one of the largest full-service hotels with the largest meeting space in Richmond, B.C. and the Vancouver Airport market. SEAPLANE OPERATIONS RESUME

The airline that lost its pilot and six passengers in a crash on a remote B.C. island is resuming its float plane operations along the B.C. coast. Pacific Coastal Airlines voluntarily grounded its seaplane fleet following Sunday's crash on Thormanby Island, off the coast north of Vancouver.
BUS SERVICE EXPANDED TO NORTHERN SASKATCHEWAN

Bus service to northern Saskatchewan is being expanded. The Saskatchewan Transportation Co. has added four new routes to the north La Loche, Buffalo Narrows, Ile-A-La-Crosse and Beauval. The new service is being offered four times a week with connections through Prince Albert. STC attributes the expansion to a large and growing population in the north.
