Signature Vacations and Flight Centre have announced the winner for their National Incentive contest, which awards the Flight Centre agent who has the top winter sales. Daniel Pelchat from Flight Centre Bonnie Doon, located in Edmonton, was the incentive’s lucky winner. Pelchat was awarded with a $2,500 voucher towards the Signature Vacations package of his choice. CHANGES AT TRANSAT
Paula Rizos becomes Commercial Director; Vic Nakleh becomes VP Transportation and Revenue Management
Transat Tours Canada, made up of Transat Holidays and Nolitours, has announced several changes across the board to their organization structure. Paula Rizos becomes the Commercial Director in Transat Tours' Vancouver office and will report to Denise Heffron, who becomes Vice-President, National Sales and Commercial. As Commercial Director, Rizos will be in charge of the Sales, Groups and Regional Marketing departments in her region. Maintaining a firm commitment to the Western region so as to support Paula Rizos and her team, Vic Nakhleh becomes Vice-President, Transportation and Revenue Management, and will report to Daniel Godbout. Nakhleh will also be in charge of national projects.

B.C. NEEDS MORE TOURISM WORKERS
Despite economic downturn, industry remains “hungry for workers”, searching overseas
B.C.'s tourism industry may be nervous about the current global economy, but it isn't removing its "help wanted" signs. Ironically, despite the downturn, the industry remains hungry for workers and is heading offshore to find them.   A delegation from B.C. that includes employers, industry associations and representatives from BC's Provincial Nominee Program, is off to Europe for its latest manpower hunt.  Projections for potential labour shortages in the tourism sector in B.C. indicate labour shortages in jobs will be 30,000 by 2015 and this figure will more than double to 64,000 in 2025. SINGAPORE AIRLINES REDUCES FUEL SURCHARGE
Singapore Airlines will lower its fuel surcharges for travellers in Business and Economy Class, across all routes, for tickets issued on or after Friday 7 November 2008. The reduction is the second time since September 2008 that Singapore Airlines has reduced fuel surcharges, in line with the recent sustained fall in the price of jet fuel. Besides the length of the journey, the surcharge levels will hereafter also take into account the class of travel. Contact your Singapore Airlines representative for more information.
