QANTAS OFFERS GREAT BARRIER REEF AIRPASS
Qantas Vacations has extended the deadline to purchase its Great Barrier Reef Airpass to October 31. Priced at $1,199, the Pass includes roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles, San Francisco or Honolulu to Australia on Qantas Airways, a stop in Brisbane and three flights within Australia: 1 flight to Cairns or Townsville, and two additional flights to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart or Launceston. Taxes and fuel surcharges are extra.

REVELSTOKE LODGE GETS NEW GM
Peter Nielson named new general manager of Nelson Lodge, Revelstoke, BC

Boutique Hotels & Resorts of British Columbia has announced the appointment of Peter Nielsen as General Manager of the Nelsen Lodge in Revelstoke, British Columbia. Peter will assume his position on October 1, 2008. A veteran of the industry, Nielsen has worked in various capacities in numerous hotels throughout B.C. including the Poet’s Cove Resort and Spa on Pender Island and The Fairmont Chateau Whistler in Whistler and the Cedarwood Inn and Suites in Sidney. Most recently, Nielsen was the opening general manager of Boutique Hotel & Resorts of British Columbia’s Oswego Hotel in Victoria. “We are thrilled that Peter has decided to join in the opening of The Nelsen Lodge,” said Mike Duggan, President of Boutique Hotels & Resorts of British Columbia. MEXICO UNVEILS NEW SINALOA BEACH PROJECT
Mexico’s Escuinapa Resort will be the new Cancun on the Pacific
Mexican president Felipe Calderón Hinojosa unveiled plans for the creation of a new beach resort in the state of Sinaloa, on the Pacific coast. The new resort project in Escuinapa Sinaloa will initially benefit from a public funding of $500 million, with the goal of attracting around $6.6 billion in private investment. “This is the most important project put forth by the public sector in Mexico. Rocky Mountaineer Vacations to operate special Alberta train in 2010
Rocky Mountaineer Vacations has announced an agreement with brand.LIVE, an international event management company, to operate a VIP corporate hospitality train during February of 2010 on behalf of the Province of Alberta and its clients. The Rocky Mountaineer train will run daily between North Vancouver and Whistler, B.C. using a special consist comprised of the legendary GoldLeaf Service dome cars and lounge cars. CONQUEST HEADS TO THE WEST
Conquest Vacations have announced that they will be basing a new 'state-of-the art' aircraft in Western Canada for the 2008-2009 fall/winter season. The new CanJet 737-800 aircraft will operate from Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton starting this November. Conquest routes utilizing CanJet’s 737-800 include: Cancun from Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, La Ceiba, Honduras from Vancouver and Calgary and Varadero from Calgary and Edmonton.
VANCOUVER AIRPORT TO OPERATE CHICAGO’S MIDWAY AIRPORT
An investment group that includes the Vancouver Airport Authority, Manulife Financial Corp. and Citigroup Inc. has won a $2.5US billion contract to operate and develop the first privatized major airport in Chicago. The 99-year lease deal is for Chicago's Midway Airport, the city's second-largest airport behind O'Hare International Airport.
