TRANSAT FLIES TO ROME
Air Transat announces direct Vancouver-Rome service for 2009

Air Transat and Transat Holidays have announced a new, direct flight to Rome from Vancouver for the summer 2009 season. Transat’s new flights from Vancouver in 2009 include: Vancouver - Rome, direct every Friday starting May 15, 2009; Vancouver - Barcelona, direct every Thursday starting June 4, 2009; Vancouver - Madrid, every Thursday starting June 4, 2009; and Vancouver - Paris: three direct flights every week starting May 7, 2009. CITC hosts Catherine Heeg in live Calgary seminar presentation
CITC presents “Reciprocal Selling: Selling to those you buy from," a live seminar presentation by Catherine Heeg, at SAIT in Calgary on October 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Catherine will include tips on how to promote your services to people from whom you normally buy services. She will include tips on how to begin the sales conversation and, to make the seminar as meaningful as possible, and she will talk about setting up your own action plan with pre-determined goals. Signature Vacations announces product training seminar winners
In the month of September, Signature Vacations held the 2008/2009 Tropical Sun product training seminars in British Columbia and Alberta. Agents who attend the seminars were automatically entered into a draw for a one week trip to the Grand Marival Nuevo Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, which includes air and transfers.  The following winners were randomly drawn: For Edmonton and Northern Alberta - Karen Cloutier, Marlin Travel Grande Prairie; for Calgary and Southern Alberta - Jacqueline Dutka, Expedia Cruiseship Centers (Harvest Hills), Calgary; and for British Columbia - Vanessa Lucas, Flight Centre Woodgrove, Nanaimo.

SKAL’s international San Francisco and Vancouver chapters sign Twinning Agreement during 60th anniversary dinner

Sheila B. Hyman, CTC, President Skal International San Francisco has signed Twinning Agreement while Brian Veitch, President, Skal International Vancouver. The twinning was then announced to the club during Skal International San Francisco's 60th anniversary dinner at the Palace Hotel, San Francisco and a unanimous vote of approval was cast. President of SKAL International – San Francisco, Sheila Hyman and SKAL International Vancouver, Brian Veitch accepted the certificates of the twinning of their respective clubs from the host organizers of the evening, Jim Main and Christian Spirandelli.


RADISSON RIBBON CUTTING
Radisson Hotel Edmonton officially opens after $5.3M renovation
The ribbon was officially cut as the Radisson Hotel Edmonton South, located at 4440 Gateway Boulevard, celebrated a grand opening following a $5.3 million renovation. Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel cut the ribbon to officially open the hotel, and general manager Robin Cumine joined the mayor to celebrate Radisson's debut in the city. The celebration continued with an open house for business, tourism and hospitality leaders, as well as corporate clients, who were welcomed to the hotel with site tours and a scavenger hunt with food and prizes. The tours visited renovated guestrooms that feature the brand's custom-designed Sleep Number Beds by Select Comfort. Guestrooms also feature new furniture, pullout sofabeds and coffee makers, and all hallways have been re-vamped with the latest wallpaper, painted ceilings and brand new carpeting. The waters off Newfoundland and Vancouver Island are among "the world's great dive sites" cited in the new Fodor's book Adventure Travel. Marine highlights in the seas around Vancouver Island include orca whales, wolf eels and octopuses, the book says.
