MAISON DE LA FRANCE FETES PICASSO
Maison de la France celebrates Picasso’s life on the Riviera
Florence Lecointre, Suzanne Zurn-Seiller,  Bernadette Marchand
A huge collection of the paintings by the artist Pablo Picasso will be on display in major exhibitions around the Cote d’Azur starting from spring 2009. Tourism reps for the Cote d’Azur (French Riviera) were in Vancouver to promote the specially created “Picasso en Provence Cote d’Azur” itinerary, devoted to the famous artist. The itinerary heads from the west to the east of Provence, according to the dates Picasso was in that particular area. On offer are themed stays, and visits to museums and places of significance to the artist, including the abodes of his muses/partners. At the same time, visitors can also check out “La Cote d’Azur des Peintres”, an itinerary following in the footsteps of other famous painters in the French Riviera. [Full text and pictures]

AMERICAN SAFARI CRUISES WAIT ON HAWAII
American Safari delays entrance into Hawaii cruise market until U.S. economy improves
American Safari Cruises is deferring entry into the Hawaii inter-island cruise market until a time when the capital funding markets and the overall U.S. economy improves, announced Captain Dan Blanchard, President and CEO. Although response from both consumers and travel agents to the first-ever yacht cruises in Hawaii is positive, the downturn in the capital markets, plus escalating fuel costs and higher air fares calls for a delay in the company's expansion plans. “It’s the wise and prudent thing to do,” Blanchard says. “We plan to inaugurate our Hawaii cruises when liquidity returns to the capital markets.” Continue reading for complete details on refunds, future cruise savings and allowances for air ticketing.
