Agents and supplier delegates gathered at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia last night for a trade show and reception hosted by San Francisco Travel. Vancouver was the trade show’s second stop in Western Canada - San Francisco Travel hosted a similar event in Calgary this week. Seventeen supplier partners from San Francisco were in attendance at the event to show agents what the destination has to offer- not just in Bay area, but also from the surrounding areas of the Bay area region such as Mendocino, Shasta Cascades, Monterey and Carmel. “There’s a lot going on in San Francisco- there’s the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, America’s Cup next summer, and the U.S open in June,” said Joe... Tourism Vancouver announced that once again the city has been named North America’s top destination for international meetings by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). The city was previously awarded the title in 2006, 2008 and and 2010. The Amsterdam-based ICCA releases an annual report ranking cities according to the number of international meetings hosted in the previous year. Vancouver hosted 55 international meetings in 2011, placing first in North America and 35th overall.
