Despite tornado warnings issued in the city that initially cancelled the event; the executive committe reported that the annual Skål International Edmonton golf tournament took place on June 12. In true Skål fashion, the show went on, with an indoor putting contest won by Berni Krumm, sales director, Sears Travel Edmonton, who sunk three remarkable holes in one. Kerrie Buist has been appointed to the newly created position of director of sales and marketing for the Calgary Airport Hotels & Conference Centre, Hilton Worldwide’s first three-flag hotel development in Canada. Buist will oversee the sales and marketing efforts for the 135-room Hampton Inn and 122-room Homewood Suites which are scheduled to open in late 2013.
