What started out as a hobby for Mitch Krystantos has, over the course of one year, turned into a business in the form of Las Vegas Connexx, a VIP concierge service for travellers in Las Vegas.

“I go down to Vegas quite often and I know a lot of key people in Vegas. So friends would call me up and ask me to help them out,” Krystantos told TRAVELHotNews.com.

“It got to the point where I was getting phone calls from people that I had never met before saying: ‘I got your name from so-and-so, who is your next door neighbour’s friend’s babysitter. Can you help us out?’"

As the requests for hook-ups and VIP connections in Las Vegas continued to come in, it occurred to Krystantos that there was certainly a market for his services.

Enter Las Vegas Connexx. The company provides Canadian travellers with a concierge service catering to their in destination needs. Whether clients are looking to bypass lines at exclusive clubs, take a helicopter tour of the city, host a bachelor or bachelorette party, race a Ferrari, take a ride in a limousine, play a round of golf or even bungee jump, Las Vegas Connexx will make it happen for them.

Canadians travel to Las Vegas at a rate of 2.9 million a year and, as a general rule, they are going to the destination looking to spend money. Money that Krystantos feels Canadian travel agents should be taking their cut of.

“[Travellers] don’t go to Vegas to just sit around and relax. Vegas is all about the wow factor. It’s no longer about the casino. It’s all about living the Vegas VIP experience they see on TV… Every year - regardless of the recession - Canadians still go [to Las Vegas] and they are spending a lot of money there.  The only problem is that that money is not getting into the hands of travel agents and event planners here.”

Krystantos’ current mission is to convince Canadian travel agents to look at the way they book their clients Las Vegas vacations in a whole new way. With Las Vegas Connexx, he wants agents to view the booking of air and accommodations as simply the tip of the Vegas iceberg when it comes to commissions.

“I say to [agents]: Let’s partner together. Let’s take care of your groups so that when they get down there they are having an amazing time. That will keep them coming back to you in the future, and we can both make some money off this."

Las Vegas Connexx has contracts with several of the top night clubs, entertainment venues and other activities in Las Vegas with varying commission levels between five and 10 per cent, according to Krystantos. Commissions are split 50-50 with the travel agent or event planner.

“My goal is to get the money back in the hands of the travel agent, because the more money they are making, they happier they are, the longer they stay in the industry and, in the end, we are all happy.”

By not booking their clients’ Las Vegas activities, Krystantos believes that travel agents are missing out an significant income off of money their clients are going to spend one way or another.

“Clients are looking to spend that money anyways. Why not make a commission off it?” he asks rhetorically.

Las Vegas Connexx hosted approximately 400 clients in its first year of operation, all of which came to the company via referral, but Krystantos is now looking for word to get out about his company's services through Canadian travel agents.

“I would be happy to not deal with the consumer and just work through travel agents across Canada,” said Krystantos. “I want to get that message out that they can make more money on every single one of their Vegas bookings, and their clients are going to have an even better Vegas experience and then refer their friends to both the agent and [Las Vegas Connexx].”
