Ensemble Travel Group today announced Marc Jacobsen has joined the organization as senior director of information technology for its 850 member agencies in the Canada and the U.S.
In this post, Jacobsen is responsible for creating a long-term technology vision and strategy that support internal needs as well as those of members and Ensemble’s network of travel partners. He works closely with other Ensemble departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all end-users. Jacobsen and his team will also implement enhancements to the organization’s client sites, Ensemble-developed and hosted consumer website for member agencies, internal agent portal, and social media platforms.
Libbie Rice, co-president, Ensemble Travel Group, said Jacobsen has a long history of managing IT and product management teams and most recently he was with Wyndham Hotels where he was responsible for the development and implementation of B2B and B2C web and mobile applications. Rice also said he has a strong background in creating detailed product vision and roadmaps, which will be a huge asset to Ensemble.
In addition to his most recent position at Wyndham, Jacobsen’s professional career spans nearly 20 years in the lodging and technology side of the travel business. Management posts have included director of product management for InnLink, LLC; senior product manager for Trust.WizCom (a division of Travelport); and global reservations and distribution capacities for Hilton Hotels Corporation and Nikko Hotels International.
Jacobsen said that to most people, the term ‘IT’ means ‘information technology.’ But for him, it translates to ‘innovation and technology’ and the union of the two. Jacobsen also said his approach at Ensemble will be to empower the team to become more innovative and entrepreneurial in the solutions for all our customers and that member and staff input is crucial, and he will be communicating with end-users on a regular basis to explore and respond to technology needs in an innovative, cost-effective way.
Jacobsen works out of Ensemble Travel Group’s New York office where other members of the North American technology team are based.
